The Problem
Located just 100m from the River Wharfe in North Yorkshire, the Tadcaster Medical Centre has been a frequent site affected by flooding.
After the flood event in February 2022 the decision was made to implement Property Flood Protection to prevent any further flood ingress and damage to the building.
Following a site survey of the building, a proposal for four flood barriers, using a mix of defender wall and stop logs, was developed for the access doors coupled with a number of Non return valves located inside the drainage system.
A series of internal puddle pumps, with permanent piped outlets were supplied, and the replacement of the buildings conventional air bricks for antiflood self closing airbricks were installed.
In addition Waterstop masonry protection was applied, as this covered all of the risk within the clients budget.
Works commenced on the manufacture of the products in June with installation completed on site at the beginning of July 2022.
