The Problem
Built at the side of the famous Cast iron bridge designed by William Crosley that spans the River Dee on the Eaton Estate, the Victorian built Boat house has suffered its fair share of Flood events over the years.
Rising flood events had already required works to Air Bricks and drainage outlets however following the flood events of February 2020 the solid oak entrance doors required some additional flood defence. Due to the heritage status of the building replacing the doors was not an option so a lightweight deployable system was offered as the solution.
For the 2 main entrance doors M3Floodtec designed a Defender Barrier solution set into powder coated black guide rails recessed back from the entrance porch so as to be as unobtrusive as possible. The base rail was chased across and cast into the entrance floor to provide an even threshold and seal against potential flood events.
