The Problem
The former Coach House, in Barnes Park, has undergone a huge refurbishment and is now offering even better cafe facilities, including an investment in flood protection to maintain the property from external surface water flood inundation.
Located on the edge of Sunderland’s largest historical public open space, Barnes Park features an old coaching house that has now been transformed into a bespoke cafe, however as the property occupies a low-lying site the caf  is often prone to surface water flooding whenever high rainfall is experienced.
As part of an extensive refurbishment program, 3 new steel flood doors were commissioned by M3 Floodtec and installed by Flood Control NI.
The installation required 2 single steel doors plus 1 glazed screen door manufactured to the PAS 1188 flood standard, with wheel chair access to the glazed screen unit as this accesses the main cafe area.
